The joy of quilting comes to Northwind Art School, northwindart.org, May 26-28. In this three-day Improvisational Quilting workshop, teacher Robin O’Neil is your guide as you learn to make seven different fabric components to create an original quilt. Visit https://northwindart.org and click on Courses to see all the info — and use our May discount code when you check out: CelebrateMomsinMay! (With the exclamation point!)
Improvisational quilting is a way to explore quilting intuitively without using rulers, templates, pins, or a plan. In this hands-on workshop at the Northwind Art School at Fort Worden, Robin will also demonstrate the “quilt as you go” process, and give a presentation comparing traditional, modern, and improvisational quiltmaking styles. Robin is a retired special education teacher from Portland who began quilting in 1973; she’s been teaching quilt workshops for 15 years now. Her guiding principle for everything she makes or teaches is to be “wide open.” The best ideas flood in, she says, when she opens mind, heart and imagination.
