Jefferson Community Conservation Corps Announces Project Partnership with Fort Worden Foundation
A new fundraising campaign has launched in partnership with the Fort Worden Foundation. The Jefferson Community Conservation Corps has chosen to support Fort Worden through their new community employment program. JCCC’s premiere initiative is to gather donations and grants to hire workers for projects at the Fort Worden State Park campus that meet a community need, enhance public spaces, and support the non-profit organization managing the projects; it’s like the Civilian Conservation Corps, but with local control and private funding. Fort Worden Needs Your Help
As a Public Development Authority, Fort Worden relies heavily on the revenues we generate by operating our accommodations, hosting meetings and events, and providing food and beverage services to our visitors. We receive no tax support or operating subsidy. Due to the mandated closures resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak, the Fort has lost and will continue to lose months of vital revenue from concerts, weddings, overnight stays and restaurant patronage. But most importantly, we have had to put on hold our treasured role as a gathering space for families, teams, friends and neighbors.
Please consider a donation to Fort Worden to help us weather the unprecedented impact of this global pandemic. Your gifts will help us activate staff that have been furloughed, work to resume more of the Fort’s activities and support visitors, guests and partner services at the Fort Worden campus.
As we emerge from this crisis, it will be so important that we can come back together in special places, like Fort Worden, that mean so much to so many people.
