Event Details

Internationally known artist Anne Siems teaches this weekend workshop. Working on paper with pencil, ink, charcoal, and watercolor, participants will uncover their deeper artistic voice! Nature will also be a key part of this experience, so students should bring clothes for walking and sketching outdoors at Fort Worden. For more information, see northwindart.org and click on Courses.

“Too often we hide behind color, texture, and material. We will explore working large, light, and with a bare-bones approach,” Siems says.

“Surrealist play, working with poetry, and portraiture will be part of our new tool kit. Tips for studio practice and other art making support will be part of our discussions. You will go home with a new alphabet to guide you forward into your true voice!”

Celebrated for her explorations of the human spirit through beautifully rendered figures with abstract, layered backgrounds, Anne Siems is also an artist mentor.  She received her MFA from Berlin University of the Arts in Germany, and has been showing her work internationally since 1992. She lives in Seattle. To see her work, visit annesiems.com.
