The Bunker, Northwind Art School’s free, open studio for teens in sixth through 12th grades, happens on alternating Fridays in Building 306 at Fort Worden State Park. The art studio is well-stocked with art supplies, snacks and drinks, there’s music playing and professional teaching artists are on hand. Casual art demonstrations are also part of the scene.
The Bunker is a no-pressure place for teens to explore art forms such as calligraphy, drawing and painting, with guidance from teaching artists including Julie Read, Michele Soderstrom, Margie McDonald, Lindsey Wayland, Dana Sullivan, Leila Block and Max Grover.
Upcoming Bunker evenings include May 26, June 9, June 17, July 7 and July 21. The Bunker studio will be open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in May and June and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in July and August. For more information and the parental permission form, see https://northwindart.org/collections/youth. Northwind Art School joyfully collaborates with PT Artscape to host the Bunker.
