Create one-of-a-kind prints (monotypes) with pigmented beeswax and paper on a professional heated aluminum palette. This modern off-shoot of encaustic artwork involves touching a warmed plate with chunks of colored beeswax, manipulating the strokes in a huge variety of ways and then laying paper down to absorb the wax. Once lifted, the print dries instantly, and the result is an original monotype. This medium creates gentle surprises and aha moments, and we will be focusing specifically on Landscapes, Trees and Florals. The freedom of this process is the ability to fiddle, play, discover, relax, explore, express and let go – a fast and fluid process and yet meditative. Each day will involve instructor demonstrations, quick guided exercises and as much time to print as possible. PLEASE NOTE: This workshop will take place at Curly Girl Art Studio, 889 53rd St., Port Townsend .
