WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26 AND MARCH 4, 9 AM-4 PM

Creating one-of-a-kind prints with pigmented beeswax and paper on a professional heated aluminum palette; this modern off-shoot of encaustic artwork involves touching a warmed plate with chunks of colored beeswax, manipulating the strokes in a huge variety of ways and then laying paper down to absorb the wax.  Once lifted, the print dries instantly, and the result is an original print.  This medium creates gentle surprises and aha moments, resulting in beautiful representational and abstracted images, landscapes, and rustic patterns. The freedom of this process is the ability to fiddle, play, discover, relax, explore, express and let go – a fast and fluid process and yet meditative. This introductory class will involve instructor demonstrations, quick guided exercises, low teacher to student ratio, and as much time to print as possible.

This workshop is for artists interested specifically in encaustics and printmaking, for the artist who wants to loosen up and explore, or for ANYONE interested in a delightful two-day art experience.
