“Wonderful one-night stay in a former army family apartment in Fort Worden State Park. Spacious spaces, clean rooms and amenities in simple surroundings. The bonus: a family of deer in the backyard. Jazz Festival and workshops throughout the park while we were there.”
“I rented on NCO row while I took a week long class with Port Townsend School of Woodworking. The whole experience was great. Both the class, an espresso, and the restaurants were and easy walk from my cottage. I even got to try a couple of classes of yoga. I enjoyed my stay.”
“We really didn’t know what Fort Worden was when we arrived…we were definitely not disappointed! The history we learned was really amazing. This fort was established to protect the Puget Sound from any potential enemy sea attack. Start in the museum…it is very informative and will help you understand the fort. The artillery bunkers were a thrill to explore (bring a flashlight if you have one). The light house on Point Wilson is a treat to visit. Plan on spending a few hours to soak everything in. Fort Worden is definitely worth your visit!”
“A lovely place to stay. Cozy and comfortable. We really enjoyed the park, and that it was very close to Port Townsend. Our 7 year old loved exploring the old military building. I appreciated the proximity to the water and the lack of a TV.”
“My family loves staying at Fort Worden! Lots of trails, three museums, beaches and exploring keeps the family busy for hours. The front desk staff when we checked in was very helpful and friendly, and the house we stayed in was nicely equipped for what we needed in the kitchen, and the fact that the house had a backyard was a very pleasant surprise.”
“This place is incredible I highly recommend it. The camping is amazing the bunkers are awesome there’s crabbing on the dock and the aquarium is really cool this is a must go place.”
“I absolutely recommend the fort for weddings! My husband and I had an amazing wedding in the chapel and a lovely reception in JFK Hall. My only regret is that I can’t do it all again!”
“Great variety of activities available at this park. We tent camped and had a great time in the forest camping area. The beach is smooth sand and we sighted a sea lion and a harbor seal while we were there. There are lots of great hiking trails and military buildings to explore. Bring a flashlight so you can walk through the bunkers since there is no other lighting available. A great spot for all ages to enjoy.”
