As a place for lifelong learning, visitors come to Fort Worden from all over the world to deepen their connection to the arts, ideas, wellness, nature, community and play. Our campus offers a range of year-round programs and activities for all ages. Stay for a few days, a week or more to discover all the vibrant activities and events that Fort Worden and its 16 onsite organizations have to offer. From Jazz performances to Pulitzer prize winning poetry, Artists in Residence to Yoga and Massage – Fort Worden’s onsite programming alongside its broad beaches, forest trails and historic buildings has something for everyone.

Centrum enables a future where anyone from anywhere can nurture their creativity in an environment that is supportive, challenging and uplifting – building a world of greater civility and inclusion through the arts. Centrum exists to present, promote and honor traditional and evolving arts, programs for a diverse array of learners that focus on the intersection of the arts and creative education, and residencies that provide artists with time, space and inspiration to develop innovative work.

The Puget Sound Coast Artillery Museum, founded in 1976 in partnership with Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend is dedicated to the mission: "...to interpret for the benefit of present and future generations, the story of the coastal fortification of Fort Worden, and Puget Sound and those who manned them." The museum is a nonprofit, volunteer based organization and is open every day from 11AM to 4PM. CAM is located in Building 201 on the Parade Ground at Fort Worden.

Corvidae Press is an association of artists who share an interest in fine art printmaking and who support and manage a communal non-toxic printmaking facility. Founded in 2006, Corvidae Press is dedicated to the cooperative structure and spirit of the organization and the pursuit of the printmaker’s craft, with a focus on education, community, and regional interaction.

Copper Canyon Press is a nonprofit publisher that believes poetry is vital to language and living. Since 1972, the Press has published poetry exclusively. Along with original poetry in English, Copper Canyon has published translations from a diverse range of languages, including Arabic, Norwegian, Bengali, Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and German. Books published by Copper Canyon have won hundreds of awards, including two Pulitzer prizes and three National Book Awards. Park visitors are welcome to drop by Building 313 to explore our books and letterpress broadsides, or visit our website.

Through volunteer service and financial support, the nonprofit Friends of Fort Worden works closely with park management to enhance, preserve, and promote this wondrous place. Our projects include a gift shop/visitor information center, trail signs, interpretive nature trails, bicycle racks, water-bottle filling stations, free accessible viewing scope, and pet-waste disposal bags/dispensers. We also provide regular trail maintenance and invasive-weed control, online and printed trail maps, guided walks, an oral-history program, and a quarterly newsletter.

Completed in 1904, the Commanding Officer’s Quarters is one of Fort Worden’s finest buildings and has been lovingly restored and furnished in the Late Victorian style, now a historic house museum. Step back in time as you experience the life of a senior US Army officer and his family in the early 20th Century, including three floors of historic interpretation, a welcoming wrap-around porch, and views of the surrounding Fort and beaches. Managed by the Jefferson County Historical Society, self-guided tours are available June through October 2020, and private guided tours for small groups can be scheduled at any time.

KPTZ Radio strives to build and strengthen community throughout the northeast Olympic Peninsula. The station actively engages its listenership through high quality, entertaining and service oriented radio programming. This provides a platform for sharing issues of concern and importance, and reflects our artistic community. As a resource for all residents in case of an emergency, KPTZ broadcasts 24/7 at 91.9 FM and live streams via the internet. Construction has begun for the station to move its studios in 2020 into Building 305, in the new Makers Square project at Fort Worden.

Explore the mysteries of the Salish Sea at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center! Get up close and personal with sea stars, anemones, urchins and other fascinating creatures at PTMSC’s Aquarium. Our Museum features Hope, one of the few articulated orca skeletons in North America. Volunteer and education opportunities are also available.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission cares for Washington’s most treasured lands, waters, and historic places. State parks connect all Washingtonians to their diverse natural and cultural heritage and provide memorable recreational and educational experiences that enhance their lives. Fort Worden joined the state parks system on Aug. 18, 1973.
